Dear Readers,
We got to the computer room today and made Wordles for Unit one: Friends and Family in our reading book. Some of us need to go back again and redo our work since today was the first time we tried creating and printing. We are at the end of our first reading unit and wanted to remember some important details and ideas from the different stories.
This is the week of much review, assessments and excitement. We will be taking religion and spelling assessments tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday will be math assessments for our subtraction facts in computation, communicating mathematically, problem solving and modeling. Friday will be exciting because we will be celebrating with Mission Day which is awesome because we go over to the gym and play games and win candy. All the money collected from the activities will go to a school that needs supplies and teaching tools. We love helping others!

Sequence
Dear Readers,
For the sake of time, Sister Ruth is typing this entry. Today we started by being a little tired. Some of us went to Friday's Family Bingo. Those who went had fun. Some of us won the raffles and the prizes for bingo.
We are practicing sequence words in our writing. See if you can identify some sequence words we use in this entry. First, we made scrolls like the early writers of the Bible. We learned that the Bible is important to us because it shows us how much God loves us and how we should love Him and others. Then, we learned other names for numbers. 8 has names like 4 + 4, 16 - 8, 5 + 3, 7 +1, and 1 + 6 + 1. Next, we practiced keys to legibility in our writing. Pp and Bb were the letters we practiced in words like baseball, and pitcher.
After lunch, we read our stories: "Taking Care of Pepper" and "Lola and Tiva an Unlikely Friendship". Both stories were narrative nonfiction which means someone is telling the story and everything is what happened. We worked with root words and predicates using the stories for text evidence. Finally, we took a nature walk with our prayer partner and found all kind of leaves and nuts and interesting things God made. Maybe we can include our walk in our personal narratives. What a great day we had!

Our Exciting Week
Dear Readers,
This week was fun because today we planted our spider plants. Our plants will grow if we take care of them just like our faith will grow if we pray every day, go to Mass for Sunday, pray the rosary, be kind, celebrate the sacraments, care for others, be responsible and be respectful. We made a Church Year wheel to remind us of the seasons of the Church Year.
We made the picture for cards at art that will become real cards. We completed our snack mats with pictures of healthy food.
Today in music we played different instruments to help us sing the "Apple Tree" song. We took assessments in religion and spelling to see how much we learned this week and what we want to remember.
In physical education class, which is in the gym, we learned about our heart rate. In science we had to put the planets in order on our white board. Next week we will be picking a part of the solar system to research further so that we can make a newspaper called the Solar System Sentinel.
Last week we made a Spanish conversation video and this week we got homework to do for the days of the week. In reading, we answered an essential question that asked How do we care for animals? One of our stories was People Helping Whales . Finally, we worked on some E.L.A. centers for when we finished reading our leveled readers.

Hidden Picture Monday
Today we started our day by praying our rosary for all the sick and special intentions that we whispered in our hearts. In religion, our lesson goal was to learn about the Church year. Then we subtracted with zero and the same number like 8-0=8 and 8-8=0. Then we made our snack place-mats. We had a blank graph and followed directions to make a picture that was hidden in the graph. The picture was a jack-o-lantern. Then we wrote a personal narrative using our picture.
